Welcome to Sew & Quilt With Sue Hausmann

Herb and I have been traveling presenting Sew and Quilt with Sue and have loads of stories to tell! Many of you asked for the instructions to for the Lettuce Bag, Potty Purse and Walker Bag so they are now posted on Sue’s Projects.  (The Project List contains a list of all projects posted to date.)

We are presently on summer haitus until the American Sewing Guild National Conference in Atlanta, GA on August 3rd.  Please check the Where’s Sue list for appearances and training events near you later this year.

Also, many of you have asked for a list of the Internet sites I share during the programs so you can download the Project Sheets and “sew much more”.  Links to other internet websites with project, tips, and information for my sewing and quilting friends is located in Links.

Be sure to click on Where’s Sue?? at the left to see where we will be in the future.

Herb and I hope to see you at one of our events and to meet you in person and share new exciting projects and techniques for sewing and quilting.

Until then….
Happy Sewing!
Sue and Herb

Hi Sue,

Twenty-six years ago, I was a beginning stay-at-home mommy in a new town, and I went to a sew-in at Finn's Fabrics by Dyllis. Hooked, immediately, permanently. Never since have I met a sewing teacher with as much enthusiasm as you shared with your students at every single sew-in. Quilt-in-a-day Log Cabin was my first quilt that year, and I remember a flying geese skirt, tips on sewing for children, and I still have (and use!) a stapled-together cookbook from a potluck show-and-tell you hosted for all us students at your house. My children grew, we've moved downstate, and I've been a real estate appraiser for many years, but I'm getting back into sewing now as a stay-at-home grandmother. Just wanted to say thank you thank you thank you for being a bright light in my life back in 1984.
Sincerely,
Claire Deal

I'm in the midst of watching one of your many appearances on Martha Pullen's show and stopped to Google you. I've kept up with some of your goings-on with Sandy Reid, and am excited to snoop around your site to see what you're up to! I have the most wonderful memories of you and what you taught me, and how suppotive you were, and just wanted to say hello. I hope you and Herb are enjoying your new adventures, and so happy to know you're both still out there doing what you love. I'll keep an eye on your schedule and hope to see you in person; in the meantime, my warmest thoughts for you and your family. Hugs, Marijka

Sue:

We met last year in Cincinnati and had breakfast together. I didn't know this was here, otherwise I would have wrote earlier. It was wonderful to meet you and Herb. I was very greatful that you were just as sweet in person as you are on television. I told you that you were the reason I bought my machine because of all of the hostsess, you seem to have no problems and the machine was easy to use. I have learned a great deal from you and I hope to get to talk with you and Herb again this year.

Thank you,
Pam Troxell

My brother saw a program where you made a quilt made from T-Shirts and they were set on point. Could you please let me know if you have this pattern in one of your books. I would like to purchase it and can not tell what book the pattern is in. The program was on Create TV. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Response:
That sounds like Program 905 of America Sews & Quilts Creatively. http://usaapp.husqvarnaviking.com/education/americasews/programnotes900.html

A complete set of four DVDs with all thirteen episodes of America Quilts creatively series 900 is available from your local Husqvarna Viking Dealer for $24.95 each or by sending a check for $24.95 each (includes shipping and handling) to: America Sews, 1224 Heil Quaker Blvd. LaVergne, TN 37086 or by calling 1-800-358-0001.

Hey Sue,
Your energy during your visit to Eddie's Quilting in Sunnyvale was amazing. If that's 'retirement', I think it would be easier to just keep working.
You signed my old Elna Lotus. I thank you for that. It will make it a dearer treasure. I believe I'll take it out for some exercise and make a few 'Potty Purses'. I bought some "Elvis/Blue Hawaii" fabric at Eddie's. That ought to liven up my guest bath.
Thank You ,again ,for a delightful day spent in your company. Oh! And a bit of advice... If you keep flirting with your Audio/Visual guy ( in high school we called them A/V Geeks), I think you can get him to ask you out. I'm just sayin' ...

HI Sue,
I was at your event at Eddie's Quilting Bee yesterday. By the way, it was a lot of fun and informative, I was also at your table at the PF Chang's lunch. So that was kind of special for me. Anyway, you had mentioned that we could give you our "wish list" for Designer Diamond updates and you'd pass them on to Viking. I forgot (it was so hectic at the end), but here are a couple of things I'd like to see:
-When the machine boots up it should give you a choice of embroidery or sewing mode. I always leave my embroidery module on and sometimes I just want to do a quick seam or something and not wait for embroidery calibration, etc.

-An undo button. When changing embroidery designs on the screen, sometimes you do something you don't like and it would be nice to "undo" and go back to where you were before your mistake.

Thanks and I hope you comeback soon.
Best Regards,
Cindy Hanrahan

Sue are you planning on making any more America Sews With Sue Hausmann? I have enjoyed them so much. We don't seem to be getting the show in Milwaukee, WI. I am thankful I have so many of the DVD's so I can watch you whenever.
Any plans to do a show in the Milwaukee, Wisconsin area? I would love it.
Keep up your energy and enjoy your new endeavors.
Sincerely,
Pauline

Hi Sue,
I enjoy your show Saturday morning. I would love to make a " USA " quilt that is in the background when the show comes on. Are there instructions in any of your books or dvds?
Thanks, Barbara

Dear Sue,
I listen to your interview on craft sanity today and I just wanted to thank you for saying "Yes, women can have it all they just don't have to have it all at one time". It was so refreshing to hear this simple statement. I am a stay at home mom and wife and sometimes I feel this is the less road travelled or that I am suppose to want more, your comment made me feel great about my choices. What a wonderful interview to listen to today.
sincerely, katy

Have loved you and your shows for many years! Quite sometime ago you made a type of sleeping bag (several of them at Christmas time for your grandchildren) that folded up into a pillow (I think). I've lost my instructions for that project. Can you direct me to the source for obtaining them again? I'm retired now and want to get my sewing machine to "buzzin"!
Thank you so much and.....may 2011 be the best year yet!
Sheila
